Yeah I know I have not yet published my final scores for Fall 2017, but I have yet to finish quite a few of those shows, so that will most likely come later this month (maybe even next…). Anyways, this is basically what I think I will give each show before I actually watch them. I will be watching everything I list here, assuming it gets subbed. I am using LiveChart as a reference.

  • 25-sai no Jyoshikousei. This looks like this season’s hentai-on-TV anime, so I am not expecting much. 4/10
  • B: The Beginning. I love suspense dramas, and this anime is being sold as one. Plus it has an awesome setting. Just a shame that I have to wait until March 2nd to watch the show. 8/10
  • Basilisk: Ouka Ninpouchou. So I watched the first Basilisk anime and read the corresponding manga, which I thought were both fine. I do not expect this new one to be as good, especially when taking a look at the new art style. It seems to be going for a more chibi-style, rather than the mature style that the predecessor took. 5/10.
  • Beatless. This anime had some cool key visuals and a decent plot, but the PV makes it look like garbage. Hopefully it is better than it appears. 4/10.
  • Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen. I watched the original Cardcaptor Sakura last year and was not too impressed by it. Probably because I was unaffected by nostalgia, so I do not expect this one to be any better. 5/10.
  • Citrus. An actual yuri anime, and not a short like the NTR one a couple seasons back. It also helps that I have read some of the manga. 8/10.
  • Dagashi Kashi 2. The first season was fine and maybe the shorter episodes this time around will be better for this type of show. 6/10.
  • Dame × Prince Anime Caravan. Oh boy, this one looks like a treat. An otome game adaptation with completely uninspired character designs and an uninteresting synopsis. 2/10.
  • Darling in the FranXX. A co-production between A1 and Trigger. Trigger does not tend to disappoint, so I have high hopes for this one, especially considering it is a mecha and I love the genre. 8/10.
  • Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku. Okay, this might look generic, but that is exactly what I thought when first looking at Re:Zero, and this one has a very high-ranked source material. Please be good. 8/10.
  • Devilman: Crybaby. The art style and animation for this new Devilman series looks awesome. I just finished the original Devilman and the three OVAs for it, all of which were decent. Excited to see a more mature take on the original story, rather than what the Amon OVA attempted to do. 7/10.
  • Emiya-san Chi no Kyou no Gohan. This came out of nowhere and is already available to watch. It is a Fate/ anime about what the Emiya family is eating everyday. Let’s just say that I am not expecting much. 4/10.
  • Fate/Extra: Last Encore. This might be the most hyped I have been for a Fate/ anime. This one comes from an all-star Shaft team and the PV looks great. 7/10.
  • Gakuen Babysitters. Looks like a generic shoujo comedy. Not expecting too much, but maybe it will surprise me? 5/10.
  • Gin no Guardian 2nd Season. So the first season of this show started of great, then completely tanked around the halfway mark. I only expect it to get worse. 3/10.
  • Gintama no Tamashii-hen. Apparently this is the final chapter to Gintama, so we will not be seeing any more Gintama in the top 10 on MAL. That in itself is great, but I honestly do not expect this season to be any better than the last several. 5/10.
  • Grancrest Senki. I am somewhat excited for this one. I liked Arslan, and this appears to be in a similar fashion. 6/10.
  • Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens. The synopsis for this one is awesome, a hitman that takes out other hitmen and an opening theme by Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets? Sign me right up. 8/10.
  • Hakumei to Mikochi. This looks like a delightful little slice of life anime. A nice art style to match as well. Do not really know what to expect beyond that! 7/10.
  • Hakyuu Houshin Engi. I watched the original anime for this one, and it was awful. Hopefully a modern adaptation can fix that, but even then I am not expecting any major improvement. 4/10.
  • Hitori no Shita: The Outcast 2. No, please. Why does this have to continue. 2/10.
  • Hugtto! Precure. Another year, another average Precure. 5/10.
  • IDOLiSH7. Okay so technically I already watched the first episode because it screened online early, but I am still including it here. Just another boring male idol anime. 4/10.
  • Itou Junji: Collection. There was a time when Studio Deen was seen as one of the worst studios, but they have come around in recent years, giving us Konosuba and Rakugo Shinjuu. On top of the fact that this is an actual horror anime, something rarely seen in the anime world, and I can say I am quite excited. 7/10.
  • Kaijuu Girls: Ultra Kaijuu Gijinka Keikaku 2nd Season. I have no idea why they would make another season of this. Does anyone buy this? 3/10.
  • Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san. I have heard so much about how good the manga is for this and I have always been a sucker for romance anime. Quite excited to see how this one plays out. 7/10.
  • Killing Bites. Another battle royale anime, but with an ecchi animal twist. It looks okay, but I do not expect this one to be interesting past its first few episodes. 5/10.
  • Koi wa Ameagari no You ni. A mature romance anime between a high school student and a 45 year old divorced man. Cannot say I have seen that one before. 7/10.
  • Kokkoku. The PV for this one makes it look like quite the ride. On top of having several of my favorite genres (drama, mystery, and psychological) and I can say that this might be contender for anime of the season. 9/10.
  • Märchen Mädchen. The art here is so nice and clean, but it just looks generic in every other department. Will we finally have a decent magic high school anime? Maybe. 5/10.
  • Miira no Kaikata. Well, the synopsis for this one is certainly interesting. A pocket-sized mummy? No idea how that will play out, but I am interested regardless. 6/10.
  • Mitsuboshi Colors. This is a straight-up slice of life. The synopsis even says that the manga follows “their largely happy daily life”. It actually looks decent. 6/10.
  • Nanatsu no Bitoku. This one is the successor to Seven Mortal Sins. That is enough to completely lose my interest, sorry. 2/10.
  • Nanatsu no Taizai: Imashime no Fukkatsu. I am not the biggest fan of the original Seven Deadly Sins anime (or the four episode sequel), but it is not a bad show. Not expecting this new season to be any different. 6/10.
  • Overlord II. YEAH OVERLORD!! Loved the first season. Expecting more of the same, and that is completely fine by me. 8/10.
  • Pop Team Epic. The visuals for this anime are deceiving. I like it already. 7/10.
  • Ramen Daisuki Koizumi-san. Two shows this season with ramen in the title? What has the world come to. At least this one is actually about ramen and looks somewhat enjoyable. 6/10.
  • Ryuuou no Oshigoto! This might be even more enjoyable now that I know how to actually play Shogi. The loli heroine is a bit concerning though. 6/10.
  • Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan 2nd Season. The first season of Saiki was criminally overlooked. It was one of the best comedy anime to come out in recent years and I expect season 2 to hold up this standard. 8/10.
  • Sanrio Danshi. Why. Please just tell me why. 1/10.
  • Slow Start. Another cute girls doing cute things anime. Quite a few this season. This one looks decent at best however. 6/10.
  • Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho. Okay, I am actually excited to see Madhouse do an anime like this. Cute girls visiting the south pole? What can go wrong? 7/10.
  • Spiritpact: Yomi no Chigiri. The first season was garbage. The second season looks like garbage too. Super excited to watch this one… 2/10.
  • Sword Gai: The Animation. Another Netflix exclusive, but also another mature-looking action anime. It is being produced by a studio that has not really done anything noteworthy however. 5/10.
  • Takunomi. ANOTHER cute girls doing cute things anime. 6/10.
  • Toji no Miko. I am conflicted with this one. On one hand, it looks nice and has a somewhat passable story. On the other, I feel like it will end up becoming just some generic garbage. 5/10.
  • Violet Evergarden. Kyoto Animation is going to do it again. This series is another serious contender for anime of the season and maybe even more. Hopefully the hype does not kill it. I expect good things KyoAni. 9/10.
  • Yowamushi Pedal: Glory Line. Each season of Yowapeda has progressively gotten less interesting, so I expect this trend to continue with season 4 here. 7/10.
  • Yuru Camp△. I am going to die watching all of these cute girls doing cute things anime this season. This one is probably going to be one of the better ones too. 7/10.
  • Zoku Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru. The first season for this sold very well in Japan, despite being complete and utter garbage. Expecting season 2 to hold up to this standard as well. 2/10.

Score counts:

  • 1/10 – 1
  • 2/10 – 5
  • 3/10 – 2
  • 4/10 – 5
  • 5/10 – 9
  • 6/10 – 9
  • 7/10 – 10
  • 8/10 – 7
  • 9/10 – 2

Now this is looking like a solid season, much better than last. Several shows aiming for high scores here, so hopefully they do not disappoint!
