The Yawhg (First Impressions)

This is more of an interactive story than a game, and an incredibly short one at that.

The Yawhg is a short story that consists of six turns (in-game weeks) that can be completed in the matter of minutes. Yes, that was minutes. I could effectively beat the game 20 times over in under an hour if I wanted to. The game doesn’t pack much in terms of content either. Playing through the game a couple of times won’t really net you anything new either. This was quite the disappointment. I had expected more.

Maybe if the game was classified as interactive “art”, then it could slide with the content (as did 9.03m), but The Yawhg actually tries to be, well, a game. There are skill points that can be gained by doing certain things and those skills have an effect on the game’s outcome. It may be fun for a couple of minutes, but I couldn’t last much longer, and this is coming from someone who frequently plays VNs.

I can’t recommend the game, as much as I’d like to at least, but it may provide a few minutes of fun for those that got it in a bundle perhaps?
